crown candy

so, I listen to a lot of podcasts.  a lot a lot.  my absolute favorite is battleship pretention.  its amazing.  one of the hosts, david bax, on the show is from st. louis and often talks about how much he loves the town.  diana and I were wondering where we should go to get some local flavor, so I figured i'd ask him.  ah, the marvels of modern technology!  in the morning we were sitting around the hotel room and I opened up the ol' twitter and sent him a message asking if he had any suggestions for a couple tourists in his hometown.  about twenty minutes later he responded with a few suggestions.  what? how crazy is that!  one of his suggestions was for a little out of the way restaurant that has amazing egg salad sandwiches.  diana was up for a little adventure, so we went downtown to tour a really cool place called the campbell house.  afterwards, quite hungry, we went looking for the place david recommended.
the place is called crown candy, its a restaurant and candy store that's been there for over a hundred years.  we went in and its clear that they haven't changed much since it first opened- which was awesome!  we were seated at a cute little two person booth and ordered ourselves some egg salad sandwiches.  he was not wrong- that was one of the best I've ever had!  it was really cool to eat at a place with so much history and to see a place so off the beaten touristy path.
thanks again, david, for the awesome recommendation!
