The Night Before...

One of the busiest nights of the year for me. Once I put the boy to bed, which is always a struggle considering its Christmas Eve. He just wants to stay up, filled with excitement about the morning to come, and I just want him to go to bed because I've got a bunch of wrapping to do! Finally, around 1:30 am, he's in bed and I can gather up all his prizes that have been hidden around the house for the past couple weeks and bring them downstairs to start the process. Just as I'm starting to get some of the gifts wrapped, I see a shadow in the stairway... That pesky boy snuck out of bed and is trying to sneak down to see his prizes! I caught him before he could come down the steps and see anything, but he tries to play it off like 'Oh, I just wanted to tell you something really quick...' Sorry buddy, story time is over- go to bed!
Finally, I make my way through all the gifts for Ledger and Diana, wrapping them up really nice (or at least kinda nice) and bringing them up to put under the tree. I arrange them as nicely as possible, making it look like more gifts than it is. I think we did pretty good this year, but I always finish the night looking at the tree thinking 'we didn't get enough stuff!' Foolish, I know. I'm sure everyone will be quite pleased with the morning's festivities in just a few hours.
Well, I want to be a part of them, so I better get some sleep too!
